
Jazmine was a Philadelphia native was raised and born in the city. Pam Her mother, who is an ex-backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. Her father offered her the job of curator at the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She along with her family moved into the historical landmark. In 2005, she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts as singer-music major. Sullivan was a contralto in the children's choir and then after a couple of years later, she sang as an adult in the choir. Sullivan had limited exposure to secular music. The singer recalls she was just 11 years old when a person wanted her to sing as a soloist at the church. But, she wasn't quite ready to go. "Then when McDonald's had a competition for students in big cities, I got a chance to perform 'Accept What God Wills' on Showtime in the Apollo and the audience was very enthusiastic". At the age 13 she sang along with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age fifteen. In the age group of 15 She was signed by Jive Records. She made the entire album and it didn't get made available for release. Sullivan was eventually dropped from the label. Missy Elliott was her producer for a few songs on her debut album. For instance "Backstabbers" which is a buzz track written by Timbaland which was composed by Elliott.
